Happy Mother's Day
I came across this poem which was given to me. I do not know the author, but I thought the message here was very clear. We must cherish our children every moment. Even those who have not been blessed with children of our own somehow manage to touch the lives of precious children whether it be nieces or nephews or members of our congregations and we indeed thank you. We must remember the words in Deuteronomy 6,
" Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."
Our children will grow up too soon. Let us teach them while they are with us the importance of loving God, talking to God and making that most important decision to put on His son in baptism saving them a place in eternity in the arms of Jesus.
My Rocking Chair, unknown author
I rocked my precious babies
in my cozy rocking chair.
I held them closely to my chest
and gently stroked their hair.
I shared the chair with Mother Goose
and bedtime lullabies.
My rocking chair was always ther
for weepy, sleepy eyes.
It rocked a frightened child
through a runmbling thunderstorm.
And when my baby had the flu
it helped me keep her warm.
It calmed a restless child
for an afternoon of rest.
And when I cuddled more than one,
it always rocked the best.
The chair sits in the corner now
so quiet and alone.
Our rocking days are in the past,
my children are all grown.
But sometimes when I'm in the mood,
I sit and rock awhile.
Remembering those rocking days
always brings a smile.
Have a blessed week. Margie
