The Bible for Women
Weekly Devotional
This is a devotional that we ran a couple of years ago. Many times in our lives, we become complacent in our Christianity. Do we sit quietly while a friend tells us that her two homosexual friends have finally found happiness with each other? Do we make no comment when someone around us tells that their place of worship embraces people of all lifestyles? Do we look the other way when subjects in our government, our professional organizations, and even places we shop support agendas contradictory to God's Word?
ONE
One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room.
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true.
One life can make the difference,
You see it's up to YOU!
~Author Unknown~
So many times a person may fall into the idea that one person alone cannot make a difference. Nothing could be further from the truth. In our world today and in the history of our nation, there are so many examples of one woman making a difference. Rosa Parks was one woman who made a difference. Mother Teresa was one woman who made a difference. Harriet Tubman was one woman who made a difference. There are so many others. In the Bible we read of one woman who made a difference. Rahab made a difference. Ruth made a difference. Abigail made a difference. The widow who gave all she had made a difference.
These women made a difference because they made a choice. They decided to make a difference and they did. They each had a choice to do nothing or do something. Rosa Parks could have gotten up and moved to the back of the bus, but Ms. Parks chose to make a difference. The widow could have chosen to give nothing because she had nothing. Instead, she has been an example for millions of people over the last 2000 years.
When opportunities arise to be a Christian example, to share God's word, to take a stand for Christ, what will you choose?
Isaiah 7:9 says, "If you do not stand
firm in your faith, you will not stand at all."
May God bless your week. Margie
