"DOES JESUS CARE?"
We sang this song at church on Sunday and it made me realize that some of us, at times, start questioning Jesus when things seem to be going wrong. The words to the song, "Does Jesus Care?" follow:
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained too deeply for mirth and song;
As the burdens press, and the cares distress and the way grows weary and long?
Does Jesus care when my way is dark with a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,, does He care enough to be near?
Does Jesus care when I've said "good-by" to the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks is it aught to Him? Does He see?
O yes, He cares; I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares.
How many times do we get up in the morning, perhaps with a headache or maybe we've not had enough sleep and our children are fighting with each other and crying for breakfast? How many times do we step into our bedroom for just a few minutes of freedom, only to find our bed unmade and dirty clothes on the floor? How many times have we picked up a glass to put into the cabinet and see it slip out of our hands and crash to the floor? How many times do we feel the tears fall and find our heart full of frustration? During these difficult moments we sometimes start asking, "Why me? Why does this always happen to me?" Instead, I wish we would turn this around and say, "Thank you, Lord, for being there to hold me up when I get frustrated, angry, or sad." Jesus doesn't cause these problems for us…remember, these are worldly problems! Things are going to happen that might disturb our day but we have to hold close the words of Jesus found in
Luke 12: 22-26:
"Then turning to his disciples he said, "Don't worry about whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothes. Look at the ravens-they don't plant or harvest or have barns to store away their food, and yet they get along all right-for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! And besides, what's the use of worrying? What good does it do? Will it add a single day to your life? Of course not! And if worry can't even do such little things as that, what's the use of worrying over bigger things?"
He loves us! We are His children! Remember, He gave up his life for us! So when the worries of the day seem to overwhelm us, open up our Bibles and turn to God in prayer. Thank Him for loving us so much that we will realize that He will never desert us in our time of need.
Just close your eyes and tell Him your problems…then get on with your day!
Love to all of you…Wanda
