Who has your vote?
Ecclesiastes 1:13 states, “I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. What a heavy burden God has laid on the human race!”
This year, we will all face a decision which will affect our country for at least the next four years. For whom will we cast our vote for President? At this point, there are still several candidates from which to choose. How are we to determine our vote? The first thing we must all do is pray. We should be in constant prayer about the next leader of the most powerful nation in the world. The scriptures state in Proverbs 24:3-4, “By wisdom a house is built and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” We must make ourselves knowledgeable about each candidate we are considering? What do we know about the candidate’s past choices? What does he or she take a stand for or against? Do the known decisions of the candidate reflect a faith in God and His principles?
Does the person enjoy arguing? Proverbs 17:19 states, “Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin.” Does the candidate stand firm on punishing criminals? Proverbs 12:1 states that, “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.”
Does the candidate lie or speak unkindly about others? Remember slander means saying things to intentionally hurt others, whether true or untrue. Proverbs 10:18 states, “Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.”
Where does the candidate stand on the murder of innocent unborn, the poor, those with disabilities? Proverbs 31:8-9 states, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
The big question is does this candidate fear the Lord? Proverbs 9: 10 states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Does this candidate seek wisdom and from whom or what does he or she seek it?
No matter what the outcome, in the end, “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.” Proverbs 21:30 “Many are the plans in a human heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 Let us set our aim on a candidate who seeks God in guidance and who will best lay before our country a plan after God’s own heart.
May God bless your week. Margie
