"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
What does that statement mean? Does it really make any sense?
Yes, it does make sense. It means that in the beginning there was only God….nothing else….just God. Can you even imagine yourself in such a situation? Think about just being you with nothing else in existence anywhere.
As a woman, I need other things, other people around me to prove that I exist. God needed nothing. He is all that He needs. He did not need us but He chose to make us in His image. Thus, Adam lived and man still lives today. We live because God chose to make us. Throughout history we have proven that we are not worthy of His love. He even sent Jesus to show us the right way. Then Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can now go to Heaven. We still go against His words and sin time after time but He still loves us. He still wants us to join Him in heaven.
As a Christian woman, I marvel at the growth of my children and grandchildren. I see the mistakes I made in raising my children and I see the mistakes they are making with their children. However, I know that they have to make their own mistakes; and they have to see the consequences of those wrong decisions before they will turn to the right way of doing things.
God does the same thing with us. He gives us choices….right and wrong choices. Many times the right choices are bland and tasteless and those wrong choices are like blooming flowers, which draw our attention. Therefore, when we choose the wrong way and wind up having to pay the consequences for those wrong choices we do not seem to understand why those choices seemed like right choices at the time! We find it is even harder to change to the right way of doing things after first tasting the wrong way. After all, the right way seems so boring!
Sisters, read your Bible before making decisions! Pray about your decisions! Be sure that you are choosing the way God would want you to choose! If, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God", then He knows the right choices for you to make!
And, Sister, He will always be there to help you because you are His! Wanda
