Our Hope

One of my most treasured verses of scripture is Psalm 39:7.

"But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you."

How can we live if we have no hope? How do we look forward or press on to another day? How do we face trial? How do we face joy? How do we face life? How will we face death? Without hope, seeking the kingdom is in vain. Without hope, our life ends here on this earth. Without hope, we will never see our Maker's face or rest in the gentle arms of our Savior. Without hope, we have no rest, no peace, no spirit.

Our hope is not in material possessions. Our hope is not in a husband. Our hope is not in children. Our hope is not in our parents. Our hope is not in earthly accomplishments. Let us not put our hope in things that could fail us. Thanks be to God that our hope is in him. He who will never fail us. And we must share this hope with others. We know so many who need this hope, who need the truth, who need eternal life. Let's share it.

Psalm 33:18
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love...

Psalm 33:20
We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.

Psalm 33:22
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

Psalm 42:11
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 52:9
I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.

Psalm 62:5
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.

Ephesians 1:18
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints...
