Heaven
This past Sunday at the end of worship service, we sang one of my favorite songs: This World is not my Home. This song is so comforting to me because I know that God keeps his promises. He promises us that he is going to prepare a place for us and that we will indeed live with our Savior forever- away from this world of pain, away from this world of sorrow, most especially away from Satan and all of his lies and tricks and deception. Heaven will be peace beyond measure. The song says, "This world is not my home, I'm just a passin through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckon me to Heaven's golden shore and I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Just up in gloryland I'll live eternally. The saints on every hand are shouting victory. Their songs of sweetest praise drift back from heaven's shore and I can't feel at home in this world anymore."
What a glorious comfort to know that we will one day live in this blessed place with our Father and our Lord. A famous evangelist answered the question "What will heaven look like?" He wrote these words, "Heaven will be so beautiful and glorious that we can only barely imagine what it must be like. As the Bible says, 'No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him' (1 Corinthians 2:9). If you took the most beautiful things you have ever seen and multiplied them by a thousand, you still would fall short of imagining Heaven's glory. When the apostle John was given a glimpse of the city of Heaven, he wrote that, 'It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like jasper, clear as crystal' (Revelation 21:11). He went on to describe it as a vast city made of gold and every type of precious stone. But the most important thing about Heaven is that WE WILL BE WITH GOD-FOREVER! No sickness or sorrow will touch us there, nor will we ever grow old and die. More than that, we will be transformed into the likeness of Christ, our Savior. Then the Bible says, 'we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is' (1 John 3:2)."
With what the Bible says about Heaven, don't we wanta go there? Don't we want to take as many people with us as we can? Jesus commands us to go and teach. Share Christ with others so that they too can experience that wonderful peace of Heaven for all eternity.
My very favorite song is "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less." In order to get to heaven we must stand on Christ, the solid rock. The final verse of the song says, When He shall come with trumpet sound, oh may I then in Him be found, Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. Thank God that we all have the opportunity to stand faultless before the throne of God. Share the Good News.
I love you. Have a blessed week. Margie |
