Weekly Devotional for November 5
I received the following poem and there was no author attached. I always want to give proper credit so please email me at margie@bibleforwomen.com if you have this information.
Miss Mistake
I’ll never be Miss Universe parading in a gown.
I’ll never be a beauty queen who earns a silver crown.
But if they held a pageant for those who make mistakes,
I’d surely be a finalist, ‘cause I’ve got what it takes!
I’ve worn my t-shirt inside out; I’ve stepped on sticky gum.
I’ve done a lot of other things that qualify as “dumb.”
I left my groceries at the store and saw my empty trunk.
I washed my favorite sweater, and I’m sad to say it shrunk.
I’ve locked my keys inside my car and couldn’t find the spare.
I’d rather not discuss the time I tried to bleach my hair.
I suffered from congestion and put eye drops in my nose.
I walked along a snowy road in shoes with open toes.
I asked my friend when she was due; she told me that she wasn’t.
I thought that ice cream made you thin. I found out that it doesn’t.
I backed into my neighbor’s car and ran into a tree.
If anyone could win this prize, it’d certainly be me!
But as I talk and share with friends I get a strong suspicion,
That if they held this pageant, I would have some competition.
When I first read this, I thought, “That sounds just like me.” Do you ever have those times when you feel like you just can’t get it right? God knew we needed a Savior. He knew that there would be times when we "just wouldn't get it right." For some of us it may be a bad day here and there and for others, years may go by before we realize we just aren't living like we need to be living. As long as you live, it's never too late to commit your life to Christ or to rededicate your life to him.
Ephesians 2: 4-5 states, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Colossians 2:13-14 says, “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.”
Paul says it best when he says in I Corinthians 9:15,
“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
